Yak Calves are Coming!

The first of our 15 or so calves for 2009 is due to be born any day.

Leading off with the 2009 births is Crooked Horn, one of our older cows. She is a sweet, calm cow with a very distinguishing mark of having only one horn. Somewhere along the way, she lost her left horn. Perhaps this is what makes her so sweet and gentle! We are excitedly anticipating her calf's arrival as this will be her first since joining us here at the Circle F Ranch.

She's been in the barn for a couple of days and definately is acting like her time is closing in. (Either that or she's just bummed out about being segregated in the barn. One never knows with yaks!)
We'll be posting pictures of her and her calf when the time comes and hopefully will have yak videos to post on the web as well.
